Barrel Stave Vase (Family - Bjornson 3) Fine Art by artist B.J.B. Hickerson - Description: The wine industry has greatly expanded since my husband and I first moved to the area over twenty years ago. I was first given some used barrel staves and was not sure what I was going to use them for, so they sat around for quite awhile. Then I had an idea to use them for wall decoration with the handmade ceramic vases. The ceramic vases were inspired by Greek art and I thought it was fitting to combine the two. These oak barrel staves come from used red wine barrels, which were stained by the red wine. Wine is stored in the barrels and leaves a very subtle aroma in the staves.
