This piece is part of the Shangri LaLa series inspired by my daughter's home. High in the Sierra foothills she lives a creative and busy life filled with art, music, and good food. For many years she lived completely off the grid using solar panels and wind for electricity and wood for heat. She grows most of her own food and is a fantastic cook. Her house is filled with art, funky antiques and eclectic clutter scattered artfully everywhere you look and interspersed with plants and flowers from the garden. Every time I visit I find something to inspire me.
"Pink Cactus" was inspired by a bright pink cactus growing next to the house. Pink and orange are a combination of colors I find hard to resist.
