Art and the creation of art has been a life-long passion for Linda Swindle. As much enjoyment as she gets from creating art, she likes to share that passion with others. Graduating with a Bachelors degree in Art Education enabled her to teach and share her love of art with others which she did in t...he public school system for over 20 years. With this background in education, she is continuing to offer classes and lessons in her studio in Powell Butte, Oregon.
The spontaneity and freshness of watercolor is the aspect that most appeals to Linda. Her subject matter is diverse but the underlying theme is to capture the moment in a loose, spontaneous technique and approach. Living on a small ranch, she is surrounded by some of the animals that show up in her paintings. These paintings are a joy to create.
In the past 10 years, Linda added silk painting to her interests as it is similar to watercolor in its movement and vibrant colors. The tactile element of silk appeals to her as does the transparency of the colors. Then she discovered felting and added it to her interests. She uses her painted silk and other found fabrics to create scarves, wall hangings, and other collage pieces.
Her work has been displayed and sold in many galleries. She has been juried into the Redmond Airport Show since the beginning, having received Best of Show several years ago. The Powell Butte Art Show is her "baby" and she does all the organization necessary to put that together. Currently, she is a member of the Watercolor Society of Oregon and has been for over 15 years.

Fine Art by artist Linda Swindle - Description: It's rare that a hummingbird sits still long enough to capture its beauty. In this painting, I attempted to keep the flowers loose and flowing so the focal point would be the hummer.

Just Us Chickens
Fine Art by artist Linda Swindle - Description: I love how chickens line up on a branch or fence. It seems they all have to take different positions while roosting. Chickens are such fun to paint, I feel the freedom to "go wild" with color and texture!

Fine Art by artist Linda Swindle - Description: Last fall after most of the leaves had fallen and the rain was pouring down, I came across this beautiful and varied mixture of colored leaves, They were wet and shiny and vibrant. I snapped some photos and these became the inspiration for this painting. During this time I had been caring for my elderly parents and these leaves were a reminder of the beauty in the change of seasons, not only in nature but also in the seasons of our lives.
Where's Waldo Bee?
Fine Art by artist Linda Swindle - Description: This painting with lots of color and activity just needed a focal point. Can you find the bee? He is well camouflaged in the busy arrangement. The painting can be hung vertically or horizontally.
