Born John White, Cloud is a White Mountain Apache who was given his name by a Hopi elder when he was 5. His father was given the name White Cloud. The painting of Cloud depicts aspects of him and his regalia from two of my first visits with him. For example, the Police badge, from the Indian Service of the Apache Nation, was given to Cloud in between our initial visits.
