Growing up in Bend, Oregon, Chris Eckberg spent much of his time with pencil and paper in hand, drawing images from both his imagination and his surroundings. Excelling in his school art classes, his notebooks were often filled with sketches and doodles!
Having done well in both art and math, he chose to study architecture at the University of Oregon, while later switching to fine art, and ...receiving a bachelor's degree in printmaking.
Over the years, he has channeled his creativity into a number of areas, including sign painting/lettering, graphic design, and illustration, as well as the architectural and landscape design of his own homes.
His work has been shown in a Northwest Watercolor Society Open Exhibition.
"I've had the pleasure of devoting myself to my fine art for some time now. Colored pencil was my medium of choice for a number of years, and I have also enjoyed attending life drawing sessions, though now watercolor has become my primary creative focus. Brushing strokes of fluid color onto paper captures an image with a unique freshness and luminosity, and is a pleasant pastime in itself, one which I enjoy very much. Inspiration for my artwork lies in whatever might catch my eye, whether it's a scene from my travels or the view from my kitchen window!"
