Art and the creation of art has been a life-long passion for Linda. As much enjoyment as she gets from creating art, she likes to share that passion with others. Graduating with a Bachelors degree in Art Education enabled her to teach and share her love of art with others which she did in the public school system for over 20 years. With this background in education, she is continuing to offer classes and lessons in her studio in Powell Butte, Oregon.
The spontaneity and freshness of watercolor is the aspect that most appeals to Linda. Her subject matter is diverse but the underlying theme is to capture the moment in a loose, spontaneous technique and approach. Living on a small ranch, she is surrounded by some of the animals that show up in her paintings. These paintings are a joy to create.
In the past 10 years, Linda added silk painting to her interests as it is similar to watercolor in its movement and vibrant colors. The tactile element of silk appeals to her as does the transparency of the colors. Then she discovered felting and added it to her interests. She uses her painted silk and other found fabrics to create scarves, wall hangings, and other collage pieces.
Her work has been displayed and sold in many galleries. She has been juried into the Redmond Airport Show since the beginning, having received Best of Show several years ago. The Powell Butte Art Show is her "baby" and she does all the organization necessary to put that together. Currently, she is a member of the Watercolor Society of Oregon and has been for over 15 years.
