This Civil War folding table and drop front desk was derived from plans in Woodworker's Journal by A.J.Hamler. The uniqueness of the table is the locking mechanism, using a wooden "spring" board. The finish is milk paint from the 18th century before petroleum products were used in finishes. However, to be authentic to the period, this furniture would be stained dark with a shellac finish. Artist Terry Peasley's interest was in the design. Both pieces of furniture are made of ash that Terry collected on his the property and milled on site.
