Gayle Pedemonte spent much of her childhood growing up in Southern California, followed by over three decades of living on a farm in Gaston, Oregon. While raising her children, Gayle worked as a registered nurse between experimenting with various artistic mediums, attending a few basic art classes to supplement her self-teachings. Gayle began taking photos of the landscapes between her commutes to... work, fascinated by the changes they underwent at different times of the day. This fascination helped to spark Gayle's interest into painting landscapes, a passion she's honed for the last fifteen years.
Retired and with children fully grown, Gayle has now been able to commit her time to her mutual torn passion between painting and gardening, spending the rainy months indoors with her canvas and sunny days among nature.
Evening at Wapato Lake
Fine Art by artist Gayle Pedemonte - Description: Not far from my house in Washington County. An area we just call the `Ditch'. Not a lake, more like a field. It is soon to be a National Wildlife Refuge and flyway.
Fine Art by artist Gayle Pedemonte - Description: Every year some of the things I've planted reward me by coming back, and flowering. And then to top it off they do so, right next to their neighbor. I think this is easy for some people to plan, or at least it should be. But I have just plunked some things in and forgotten to look around and think about who they would be better sitting next to. Sort of like an elementary teacher? I have changed the seating chart after a couple years in some cases.
Here Comes the Sun
Fine Art by artist Gayle Pedemonte - Description: A simple scene of a gravel road with potholes near my house. When it's rainy or gray, which it is a lot, it is not very attractive. Then the sun pops out and even the puddles glisten!
It's Worth Saving
Fine Art by artist Gayle Pedemonte - Description: An iconic farm building in Cherry Grove, Oregon. It looks like it could come done, but seems worth saving. Tucked up against the hillside.
This piece is available Online Only and is not on display at the gallery.
Fine Art by artist Gayle Pedemonte - Description: A simple study of a beautiful white orchid. I treated myself to it. It looked so grown up, sedate, clean and organized. I knew the blossoms may not last long, and not sure if I can keep it going. So I decided I better paint it.
Might Well Be Spring
Fine Art by artist Gayle Pedemonte - Description: I don't often buy flowers, I grow them and follow that theory of growing or buying them from close to your home. That is a big topic. But anyway, I bought some of these little white ranunculus in late winter, because I have tried to grow them, unsuccessfully. I love the dramatic dark centers.
Morning Sun in the Yard
Fine Art by artist Gayle Pedemonte - Description: Oil on Panel. One of my favorite scenes. I got out early enough to catch the bright morning light coming into the yard. The grass field is yellow, the flowers that I started in the that little green house are blooming. All that digging and working paid off. I love to capture it in a painting. It extends the rewards which are fleeting when you garden.
